Watch Jessie talk about Inclusive Wellbeing here.
The same goes for wellbeing seen as a journey, not a destination.
So, as we all move forwards, how can we ensure we’re doing well? This is when well-meaning thoughts become bitesize actions leading toward real change.
How can you integrate inclusivity into a wellbeing initiative, event, program or other happening in the organisation?
Let’s break down things into a 10-step process.
STEP 1: PRE-PLANNING ASSESSMENT
Identify a core team representing different departments, regions, and cultural backgrounds.
Conduct a thorough needs assessment survey to gather insights into employees’ wellbeing preferences, challenges, and cultural considerations.
STEP 2: CULTURAL RESEARCH
Alongside researching cultural norms and sensitivities check up on national holiday dates and awareness months/events in different regions.
Look into how the content will align with diverse cultures and preferences.
STEP 3: CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
Collaborate with subject matter experts, including wellness professionals and regionally relevant psychologists, to create a balanced and comprehensive content plan.
Develop a variety of resources pertaining to holistic wellbeing such as physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing.
STEP 4: INCLUSIVE DESIGN
Ensure all content is accessible, considering different languages, formats, and disabilities. Incorporate inclusive design principles to guarantee that materials are user-friendly for all.
One of the most widely followed standards is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
STEP 5: COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
Develop a clear communication plan that outlines the schedule, objectives, and benefits of the wellbeing event/program.
STEP 6: LEADERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & WELLBEING CHAMPIONS
Secure commitment from senior leadership to actively participate and promote the initiative. Find the leaders who can be encouraged to share personal wellbeing stories and emphasize the importance of employee participation.
Our wellbeing champions are our Pavelka Pioneers – people passionate about wellbeing and keen to bring their colleagues together for shared wellbeing experiences.
Step 7: GLOBAL INTENGRATION
Align the event/program with relevant global awareness months/events (e.g., Mental Health Awareness Month).
Integrate diverse themes that resonate with different regions.
Step 8: LAUNCH (Event/Program Start)
Officially launch the wellbeing event/program with a kick-off event or announcement.
Make all content and challenges accessible and easily navigable on your company’s digital platform.
Step 9: FEEDBACK LOOP (Throughout the Event/Program)
Regularly collect feedback from participants across regions using surveys, focus groups, or real-time engagement data.
Analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement and fine-tuning.
Step 10: EVALUATION (Post-Event/Program)
Assess the overall impact of the event/program on employee wellbeing and engagement.
Use insights from the feedback and evaluation to refine content, challenges, and communication strategies for future initiatives.
Of course! These ten steps are but guidelines as we move forwards together with inclusive wellbeing.
